This article covers the main cost components in X-Perps trading for verified EEA users, including trading fees, funding payments, and execution-related effects.

Note: this article is for verified users trading X-Perps in the EEA region.

X-Perps trading can involve more than one cost component. Understanding the full cost picture helps you evaluate your results more accurately.

Your net PnL is not always equal to the raw market move from entry to exit. In addition to price movement, your net result may be affected by trading fees, funding payments, and execution-related effects.

What are the common cost components for X-Perps?

Your total PnL may be affected by:

  • trading fees (for opening and closing positions)

  • funding payments (periodic — paid or received depending on position direction and funding rate)

  • execution-related effects such as slippage (depending on order type and market conditions)

  • conversion or spread-related effects (if applicable to your account or asset flow)

Not every trade includes every cost component. The combination depends on how the order is executed and how long the position is held.

What are the trading fees for X-Perps?

Trading fees apply when orders are executed. X-Perps trading fees on OKX use a maker/taker model with tiered rates that decrease as your volume grows.

Fee type

Rate

Maker fee

0.02%

Taker fee

0.05%

VIP maker rebate

-0.01% (high-volume traders)

VIP taker fee

~0.015% at higher tiers

VIP 1 starts at €10M monthly volume or 100k AUM. For current tier rates, refer to the OKX fee schedule.

What are the differences between maker and taker in X-perps?

Maker orders add liquidity to the order book — for example, a limit order that does not execute immediately. Taker orders remove liquidity — for example, a market order that executes immediately against existing orders. In most cases, taker fees are higher than maker fees.

What's Funding in X-perps?

Funding is a periodic payment mechanism between long and short position holders — it is not the same as a trading fee. On OKX, X-Perps funding is settled hourly.Depending on the funding rate and your position:

  • When the funding rate is positive, long positions typically pay short positions

  • When the funding rate is negative, short positions typically pay long positions

Funding affects your total cost or return depending on: position direction, the funding rate at the relevant time, how long the position is held, and whether the position is open at funding settlement time.

How fees and funding affect net PnL in X-perps?

Item

Amount

Position notional

$10,000

Gross PnL from price move

+$100.00

Trading fees (entry + exit at 0.05% taker each)

-$10.00

Funding impact (paid, long position)

-$3.00

Net PnL

+$87.00

This is why your net result may differ from what you expect based on the chart move alone.

Execution quality can also affect your net result. Slippage is the difference between an expected execution price and the actual execution price. Slippage can happen in fast-moving or lower-liquidity conditions and may vary by order type.

Why is checking Conversion and spread mechanics important in X-Perps?

Depending on your account setup, product flow, or asset path, additional conversion-related effects may affect your overall cost. Review in-app details before confirming conversion or transfer steps.

Why does my X-Perps result look different? What should I do?

If your result looks different than expected, check below in your app:

  • executed entry and exit details

  • fees charged on executions

  • funding payments (if applicable)

  • time held vs relevant funding settlement times

  • partial fills or partial closes

Important note

Fee schedules, funding rates, and applicable product mechanics can change over time and may vary by product, account status, region, and platform configuration.
